The NBA at this Point

The 2017-2018 NBA season has been different to stay the least. After just about the craziest offseason in history, we saw many Eastern and Western Conference teams considerably better off than before. The formation of new all-star duos such as Chris Paul and James Harden as well as Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward (Hayward to be covered later) will make for some interesting matchups in the coming years. On top of the new duos, we also saw some championship-caliber teams only get better. For instance, the reigning MVP Russell Westbrook added Carmelo Anthony and Paul George to the already offensive-minded Oklahoma City Thunder. Also, LeBron James was reunited with Dwayne Wade and also added Derrick Rose to the stacked Cleveland roster...something that further cemented them as a superteam. Another highlight of the season so far is the resurgence of former star Ricky Rubio in his new home. Rubio has taken the reins in Utah and turned himself into a scoring machine.

One thing that has plagued this season thus far is that of injuries. Within the first ten games, we have seen multiple long-term injuries that have really hurt a multitude of teams. Gordon Hayward, Jeremy Lin, and Dennis Schroder have all seen injuries that will sideline them for most (if not all) of the season. What's even worse, the severity of Hayward and Lin's injuries could hinder them from playing ever again if not healed properly. Other players, like Derrick Rose and D'Angelo Russell have a injuries that have momentarily benched them. The reoccurring injuries call to attention the intensity of the training schedules that the players are subject to and cause us all to wonder if they should dial it back a little bit.

Overall, this season will be one full of exciting twists and turns...and all we can do is sit back and enjoy.
